Taoist Sharman generally would carry and pray with the Visiting Temple's flag, Taoist Sharman knife and practice instrument. It is NOT unusual for the Taoist Sharman, both male and female, to use knife for the practice and injure himself or herself to show the sincerity, power, and attachment and enlightenment of the Mazu. As the videos, dated June 26, 2022, indicate the ceremony and practice of the female Taoist Sharman practice when a Mazu Temple in Chongher Town, New Taipei City, brought back its Mazu Deity to Pei Tian Temple for the worship practice.
