While the site can get very hot with limited shade and climbing the mountain isn't permitted, the enjoyable activities like bumper boats and delicious local treats like salty ice cream make it a worthwhile stop. It's a quick visit that offers good photo opportunities and a glimpse into Tainan's salt industry history.
"The area’s pretty touristy and there’s nothing if you are there to seek the real scenes of salt processing from sea water. The best takeaway was my bags of preserved licorice lemon slices known to keep throats and lungs moisturised during the wintry seasons."

"It costs $100 to drive in (we were dropped off by a taxi). You can’t climb the salt mountain due to the recent typhoon and rain. You can walk around and take pics of the previous statues that they put on the mountain. There are some educational exhibits inside. You can ride the water bumper cars for 10 minutes for $100. It’s really hot since there’s no shade so be prepared. There’s ac in the restaurant but they don’t let you bring outside food in. The ice cream and tofu pudding was yummy!"

"Interesting to see a salt hill. Since we cannot go up the hill, it was quick to finish viewing the exhibits. The slightly salty milk soft-serve was refreshing. Complete the trip to the mart to purchase some local delights.
The trip was very short compared to the drive there."
