Reviews Summary

Xinhua Old Street is praised for its well-preserved Baroque architecture and delicious morning market food, offering a glimpse into Taiwan's past. However, some visitors find the local attention uncomfortable. The street is best enjoyed for its historical charm and culinary offerings, especially before noon.

"Great for history. People in Xin-Hua stare at outsiders (foreigners) a lot, though, making us feel uncomfortable. We aren't animals in a zoo, we are people just like you. "Take a picture. It'll last longer"."

Mike 台客 Lesser

"This is a very nice historical street. It got a lot of historical buildings. You can see the old glorious prosperous city Xinhua once was. It is still a very busy city but the “old money” was running long and deep here. A lot of wealthy families were oriented from this area. Some are still living nearby in the city. The merchants here on the street are very different from other modern business districts. You should checkout some of them to see what made those merchants rich during those glorious days."

David Liu

"This is a short old street, most of the buildings were built during the Japanese rule. It may not be particularly special in the past, but it is very precious now because of uncontrolled development in Taiwan recent decades, so the local residents are exceptionally commendable because they were voluntarily retain. Old Street should not only be food and shopping, the building can tell us more about people's spiritual pursuits and work attitudes in the past."
