"I had the privilege of experiencing the Serengeti Wildlife Safari, a 5-day luxury adventure that exceeded all expectations. We flew from Zanzibar to the Serengeti, and from the moment we arrived, everything was flawless.
Our accommodations were top-notch, staying at the stunning Melia Serengeti and Ngorongoro Melia, both of which offered unparalleled comfort, incredible views, and world-class service. The Manyara Secret Luxury was equally magnificent, providing the perfect blend of tranquility and indulgence amidst nature.
Our guide, Amedeus, was nothing short of exceptional. Not only was his English excellent, but his knowledge of the flora and fauna was truly impressive. He brought the landscapes and wildlife to life with his deep understanding of nature and passion for conservation. Every game drive with him felt like a private tour led by an expert, making the entire experience even more memorable.
I highly recommend this safari company to anyone looking to experience the Serengeti in luxury and style. The owner, John, has clearly crafted something special. "Serengeti Wildlife Safaris was excellent! They listened to our every need and made it happen! The experience was great from the time we landed in Tanzania until the time we left and were dropped off at the airport for our journey back home. A driver was waiting for us at the airport in Kilimanjaro and drove us to our hotel in Arusha. Later in the day a driver picked up to explore Arusha and do a little shopping. The next morning our safari guide picked us up from the hotel and drove us to the Serengeti. On the way we stopped to see some sites, had a fantastic lunch that the hotels would pack for us and the guide would set up. All of the food was tasty and we enjoyed them. Whenever we would ask for a bathroom break, our guide would find a nice, clean bathroom for us to stop at within 20 minutes of asking for a rest stop. Our guide was very experienced and knew so much about the landscape, the history and the animals! We felt very safe with him and we were so glad to have him with us. We saw all of the big five and so much more! We booked a luxury safari and the accommodations, food and scenery was excellent at every location. John, the owner, of Serengeti Wildlife Safaris, was friendly, kind, professional, trustworthy and attentive to our needs. Throughout our trip in Tanzania he was always just a phone call or text away to answer any question we had. Even when we added some things that we wanted to do during the trip, he arranged it and everything went as planned. We also visited Ngorongoro Crater, which was amazing, and Zanzibar. Serengeti Wildlife Safaris helped us plan it all and it was really the trip of a lifetime! We had a great time in Tanzania and we could not have done it without John's help! It is like having a good friend in Tanzania to help with everything all along the way. If you are planning to book a safari or a trip to Tanzania, I highly recommend this company!"

"We had an unforgettable experience with Serengeti Wildlife Safaris. Our journey began with a flight from Dar es Salaam to the Serengeti, where we were welcomed by a professional and friendly guide. He made our safari incredible, showing us the Great Migration and many other amazing wildlife moments. The entire safari was smooth, well-organized, and exciting from start to finish.
After the game drives, we stayed at Melia Serengeti Lodge, a stunning luxury lodge inside the park. The comfort, food, and views made it the perfect place to unwind and enjoy the beauty of the Serengeti.
Next, we took on the 8-day Kilimanjaro trek via the Lemosho Route. Once again, Serengeti Wildlife Safaris delivered an excellent experience. The mountain team was supportive, organized, and truly cared about our well-being. From the porters to the guides, everyone was kind and professional. Reaching the summit was an emotional and proud moment for us.
We highly recommend Serengeti Wildlife Safaris for both safari and Kilimanjaro adventures. If you book with them, ask for John he’s the expert in both and made our trip smooth, safe, and unforgettable.
Thank you, Serengeti Wildlife Safaris, for an incredible adventure!"

Frequently Asked Questions
🚇 🗺️ Getting There
Most safaris to the Serengeti involve flying into Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) or Arusha Airport (ARK). From there, you'll typically take a domestic flight directly to a Serengeti airstrip or begin a road safari. Reputable safari companies often arrange these transfers for you, ensuring a smooth transition from your arrival in Tanzania.
Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) is the main international gateway. Arusha Airport (ARK) is closer to safari starting points and handles domestic flights to the Serengeti. Some travelers also fly into Dar es Salaam (DAR) and then connect to Arusha or directly to the Serengeti.
Flying into the Serengeti is significantly faster and offers stunning aerial views, especially if you're on a luxury safari. Driving is more budget-friendly and allows for stops along the way, but it's a much longer journey. Many luxury safaris combine flights with guided road transfers within the park.
Yes, most reputable safari companies, like Serengeti Wildlife Safaris, will arrange airport pick-ups in Kilimanjaro or Arusha and transfer you to your hotel. This ensures you're met by a driver and begin your safari experience without hassle.
By road, the journey from Arusha to the Serengeti can take anywhere from 6 to 10 hours, depending on the gate you enter and the specific area of the park you're heading to. This often includes a stop at a viewpoint or a brief visit to a Maasai village.
🎫 🎫 Tickets & Entry
The cost of a Serengeti safari varies greatly depending on the duration, accommodation level (luxury vs. budget), and activities. Luxury safaris, including high-end lodges and private guides, can range from $500 to over $1,000 per person per day. Shorter trips or more basic accommodations will be less.
Typically, park fees are included in comprehensive safari packages. However, it's always best to confirm this with your tour operator. These fees contribute to conservation efforts within the national parks.
While you can often pay park fees upon entry, booking your safari package in advance with a tour operator usually covers all necessary permits and entry fees. This streamlines the process upon arrival.
Serengeti National Park is generally open year-round, with game drives typically occurring from sunrise to sunset. Specific lodge access times may vary, but the park itself is accessible during daylight hours for safari activities.
It is possible to visit the Serengeti independently, but it's highly recommended to use a tour operator, especially for first-time visitors. They handle logistics, park fees, accommodation bookings, and provide essential guides, making the experience much smoother and safer.
🎫 🧭 Onsite Experience
The Great Migration is a year-round phenomenon, but the best time to witness the massive crossings of the Mara River is typically from July to October. The calving season, when wildebeest give birth, occurs in the southern Serengeti from January to March.
The 'Big Five' are the lion, leopard, elephant, rhinoceros, and Cape buffalo. Seeing all of them on a single safari is a significant achievement and a major draw for visitors to the Serengeti and Ngorongoro Crater.
A 3-day safari is a minimum to get a good feel for the Serengeti, but 4-5 days allows for more in-depth exploration and a higher chance of seeing diverse wildlife. Longer trips, like 7-day safaris, can include multiple parks and activities.
Pack lightweight, neutral-colored clothing (khaki, beige, green) to blend in with the environment. Long sleeves and pants are recommended for sun protection and to ward off insects. Comfortable walking shoes are essential. Avoid bright colors and white.
Tanzania is generally a safe destination for tourists, especially when traveling with reputable safari companies and experienced guides. They prioritize your safety, ensuring you maintain a safe distance from wildlife and follow all guidelines.
🍽️ 🍽️ Food & Dining
Safari dining often includes a mix of international and local cuisine. Expect delicious meals prepared by lodge chefs or packed by your guide for bush lunches. Fresh fruits, vegetables, grilled meats, and traditional Tanzanian dishes are common.
Yes, most safari operators and lodges are very accommodating of dietary restrictions, including vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, and allergies. It's crucial to inform your tour operator of any special requirements well in advance of your trip.
Luxury lodges offer gourmet dining experiences, often with multi-course meals served in elegant settings, sometimes under the stars. Expect high-quality ingredients and impeccable service, complementing the overall luxurious safari experience.
This varies by lodge and safari package. Some luxury lodges include house wines, beers, and soft drinks with meals, while others may charge extra. It's best to clarify what is included in your specific package.
Absolutely! Many lodges and guides will incorporate local flavors and dishes into your meals. Trying dishes like Ugali (maize porridge), Nyama Choma (grilled meat), and various stews is a great way to experience Tanzanian culture.
📸 📸 Photography
A telephoto lens (200-400mm or longer) is essential for wildlife photography. A wide-angle lens is useful for landscapes. Consider a DSLR or mirrorless camera with good low-light performance. A sturdy tripod or monopod can help with stability.
The 'golden hours' – shortly after sunrise and before sunset – offer the most beautiful, soft light for photography. Midday sun can be harsh, but it's still possible to capture great shots, especially of animals seeking shade.
Use a fast shutter speed to freeze motion, especially with moving animals. Shoot from a low angle to make animals appear more imposing. Be patient and wait for the perfect moment. Your guide can often position the vehicle for optimal shots.
Generally, photography of wildlife is encouraged. However, always be respectful and avoid disturbing animals. In some cultural areas or near military installations, photography might be restricted. Always follow your guide's instructions.
Drone usage is often restricted or prohibited in national parks and conservation areas to protect wildlife and maintain a peaceful environment. Always check local regulations and obtain necessary permits before flying a drone.
