Reviews Summary

Jambiani Beach is lauded for its breathtakingly white sands and the mesmerizing spectacle of its dramatic tides. Visitors appreciate the less touristy atmosphere compared to northern Zanzibar, the vibrant local life, and the excellent kitesurfing conditions. While swimming is tide-dependent, the beach offers endless opportunities for relaxation and exploration.

"We visited mbuyuni beach resort, which was nice and very peaceful. The food in the restaurant is great. One thing is that you can swim only when tide is high, so you better schedule your swim time."

Igal K

"We chose Jambiani over Kendwa or Nungwe in the north because it’s said it’s less touristy. There are plenty of hotels and resorts so there is still lot of tourism going on but the beach is so vast and there’s so much space for everyone.
In the evening the locals are coming to play soccer on the white sands which is fun to watch.
There are many kite surf shops for hiring equipment and one can take classes. The wind was pretty good when we were there in July and many people came to kite.
There’s an abundance of nice restaurants and bars along the beach and one holiday is not enough to try them all.
Almost endless walks along the beach are possible but at high tide sometimes there’s no space left to walk.
At low tide the water leaves big puddles behind and the local women are wading through them to collect crabs and shells.
Snorkelling is offered by tour operators but the reef is unfortunately not healthy and there’s not that much to see."

Saar Nam

"A vast beach with water as blue as the Indian Ocean, featuring an impressive tide is worth seeing. Fewer Maasai than in other locations. Highly recommended!"
