What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors are consistently awestruck by the Blue Temple's vibrant azure beauty and intricate artistry, calling it a modern masterpiece. The detailed murals and serene Buddha statue are highlights, offering a unique spiritual and visual experience. While entry is free, donations are appreciated. Some note that crowds can detract from the experience, especially for those seeking perfect social media photos.
"My visit to the Blue Temple, or Wat Rong Suea Ten, in Chiang Rai was absolutely mesmerizing! This temple is a vibrant masterpiece, with its stunning blue facade and intricate gold accents that shimmer under the sun. The moment I stepped inside, I was blown away by the vivid murals depicting Buddhist stories, adorned with rich hues of blue and pops of color that make every corner Instagram-worthy. The giant Buddha statue at the center, surrounded by ornate carvings, radiates a serene yet powerful presence, making it perfect for quiet reflection or simply soaking in the artistry.
What sets this temple apart is its modern yet deeply cultural vibe, blending traditional Thai elements with contemporary design. The dragon motifs at the entrance (inspired by the temple’s name, "Dancing Tiger") are jaw-dropping, and the entire place feels alive with creativity. The grounds are clean, well-maintained, and surprisingly tranquil despite its popularity. Entry is free, though donations are appreciated, and there are small stalls nearby for snacks or souvenirs. The local staff were warm and welcoming, adding to the positive experience.
I loved how accessible the temple is—located just a short drive from Chiang Rai’s city center, it’s easy to combine with visits to the White Temple or Black House. Whether you’re a culture enthusiast, a photographer, or just looking for a peaceful escape, the Blue Temple is a must-see. Pro tip: Visit in the early morning for fewer crowds and softer light for photos. This gem is a highlight of Chiang Rai and left me in awe of its beauty and spirit!"

"You definitely won’t miss this temple. The vibrant blue color is incredibly striking. But what truly caught my attention was the wall art, especially the detailed paintings depicting the life story of Sakyamuni Buddha. The artwork is beautiful and full of meaning.
No entrance fee. Proper attire is required to enter, but no worries as they provide sarongs. There’s some ongoing renovation and construction, so hopefully there’ll be even more to see in the future."

"Really nice, different from the other temples. If you stay in Chiang Mai is in walking distance to visit. If you take a guided tour, then it’s always included in the tour so you might as well not do it separately. Tour is better. The link between the blue and the white temple, the blue temple is designed but a student of the artist who designed the white temple. It’s a must see. Also, don’t miss on the small museum collection."
