"I am a long-time top-tier Platinum member and have stayed at many hotels within the Melia / INNSiDE brand worldwide. Unfortunately, INNSiDE by Meliá Bangkok Sukhumvit has been by far the worst experience and is, in my opinion, the black sheep of the brand.
I had a fully prepaid booking under my name and checked in with my girlfriend. Due to an unexpected flight cancellation, I was unable to arrive on the first night and only reached Bangkok the following day. Despite the room being fully paid, the hotel staff made a major issue out of the fact that I was not physically present on the first night.
Instead of handling the situation professionally, the staff put immense pressure on my girlfriend, claiming the stay was “not valid” without my presence and forced her to pay the room a second time, which makes absolutely no sense since the hotel had already received full payment. At that moment, she did not even have the funds available and was treated as if she had done something wrong.
The behavior the next morning was equally unacceptable. In particular, Joy, the duty manager, demonstrated a complete lack of customer service skills, empathy, and understanding of how to deal with loyal, long-term customers. This kind of treatment is unworthy of a 5-star hotel and far below the standards one would expect from an international brand like Melia.
What should have been handled with a simple note, flexibility, or basic courtesy turned into unnecessary stress, pressure, and disrespect. I have never experienced anything like this at any other Melia property.
Very disappointing. I sincerely hope the management reconsiders its staffing and service standards at this location."
