While a common stop for jet ski tours, some feel better alternatives exist with more value and fewer hassles.
"One of the destinations of the Jet Ski Program is this island, where we stop for 30 minutes.
I’m not sure if it’s even possible to reach this island on your own.
In my opinion, there are much better islands with more facilities that you can visit instead."
Niloufar Ghafarian
"Please dont go here! This is a private island we were told admission to the island would be 20 baht but on arrival the attendee was hustling for 100 baht, after some confusion and a language barrier it cost only 20 baht. Don’t be scammed.
There is multiple Jet ski tours stopping at the island during lunch time and racing around. The island charges money for literally everything, 100 baht for a deck chair.
If you bring food they will charge a 500 baht fine.
700 baht for 20min on a quad bike - not worth it.
1500 baht jet ski for 15min - these are western prices…
If you’re visiting as part of a jet ski tour it’s a nice stop.
If you’re visiting from neighbouring Coconut Island resort. Don’t waste your time! Stay in the lovely resort and make use of the FREE water sport activities.
Lastly, the long tail boat broke down on the way over and we were dead in the water drifting for 20+ mins until they sent another long tail boat to transfer us over to.
Not worth the trip!"

Navigating Rang Island's Costs
Furthermore, bringing your own food and drinks is highly discouraged and can lead to significant fines, with one instance of a 500 baht penalty. Activities like quad biking or jet ski rentals also come with substantial price tags, often described as 'Western prices,' which may not align with expectations for a Thai island experience.
For those visiting as part of a jet ski tour, these costs might be bundled or presented differently. However, if you're considering a separate trip, be prepared for a potentially expensive day. Many reviews suggest that other islands offer better value and more inclusive experiences.
The Jet Ski Impact on Rang Island
Jet ski tours frequently stop at Rang Island, contributing to the crowds and activity levels during peak times. While some visitors might enjoy the option of jet skiing, the sheer volume of these watercraft can be overwhelming and detract from the scenic beauty. The noise pollution and the potential for accidents are also concerns raised by some travelers.
For those seeking a serene beach experience, it's advisable to visit Rang Island during off-peak hours or consider its east coast, like Kahung Beach, which is generally described as more peaceful. However, even on the east coast, awareness of the strong currents is essential for safe swimming.
Understanding Rang Island's Private Nature
The private nature also extends to the island's regulations. Strict rules are in place regarding outside food, with significant fines for violations. This policy encourages visitors to patronize the island's own vendors, contributing to its revenue streams. While this is common practice on many private resorts or islands, it's a key point to be aware of to avoid unexpected charges.
For visitors staying at nearby resorts, like Coconut Island, it's worth noting that the resort itself might offer comparable or even superior water sports activities that are free of charge, potentially making a separate trip to Rang Island redundant.
