What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Loy La Long Hotel is celebrated for its incredibly unique and atmospheric riverside experience, offering artistic decor and stunning views. While some find the entrance and surrounding area less polished, the charm and tranquility of staying directly on the Chao Phraya River, coupled with friendly staff, make it a highly memorable and recommended stay for those seeking something different.
"This unique boutique Hotel is a delightful place to stay in Bangkok. We stayed upstairs in the Blue Room with a beautiful view of the river. The upstairs balcony for the guests to enjoy their delicious breakfast while watching the passing boats on the river was very entertaining. The evenings we enjoyed excellent cocktails and tasty dishes from their kitchen while watching the lit up cruise boats go up and down the river. You could hear the lapping waves when the large boats and barges went by.
On top of this need experience, the staff was very friendly and welcoming. We loved our 2 night stay and wished it was longer.
We also liked the location to explore.
Loy La Long hotel is a must for any visitor to really experience Bangkok.
(Note that the high tides in October and November may bring water into the entry of the hotel in the mornings, but that did not impact the rest of the hotel on the water and of course not the upstairs rooms at all. It added to our love for the unique place since we truly felt that we were staying on the river.)
Thank you!"

"Of every hotel or hostel I've ever stayed at, this place is probably the one that stands out the most. It's comfortable, not luxury, but a wonderful experience. The decor is a beautiful traditional Thai style, the view over the river for a coffee or beer is gorgeous and the included breakfast is lovely. I'd love to come back sometime."

"I've stayed in dozens of Bangkok hotels over the years. Most have a cookie cutter design and aren't very inspiring. This place, however, is unique. It's not 'by' the river. It is 'on' the river. It is supported on concrete posts above the river. In the rooms, you can hear the water lapping against the river bank under the floor. The hotel was flooded in 2023, and this is a risk if there is very heavy, prolonged rain because of its proximity to the river. This is the only hotel I've stayed at where the wardrobe contains life jackets instead of the customary slippers and bath robes!
The old teak building is 100 years old. It has been a hotel since around 2012. There aren't many rooms - six, I think. There are a couple of common areas that look directly out over the river.
There is no restaurant as such, just a small kitchen. Breakfast must be ordered the day before. You can have a Western breakfast, Asian breakfast, or healthy fruit and yoghurt. The staff are very pleasant.
Staying in the hotel feels a bit like being on a boat without being on a boat. If you want the ultimate in luxury and comfort, don't stay here. If you want something that's quirky and very different, I don't know of anywhere else quite like this."
