It's seen as a serene escape, offering a glimpse into Sukhothai's history without the crowds. Some find it less visually striking than other Sukhothai sites, but its tranquility and natural beauty are consistently praised.
"After exploring Sukhothai Historical Park, we drove around on our rented motorcycle to go to a dam nearby but saw that outside of the park, there are other temple ruins. Wat Pa Mamuang was one of them. No fees to get in, it was just along the way to the Saritphong Dam.
They were able to restore/preserve the "fence" around the main stupa. The stupa was not there anymore. What I like about this wat are the trees surrounding it. They're giant trees and provided so much shade and home for birds. We were the only tourist here and we walked around enjoying the peace and quiet with the chirping birds."

"West of the city wall of Sukhothai, this temple was mentioned in several stone inscriptions from the Sukhothai period. Stone inscription No. 6 found at this temple refers to the importance of the temple as a place where Phra Maha Dharmaraja was ordained a priest in 1362 AD. Currently, the remains of buildings in the temple include the ordination hall and chedi."
