Phu Wiang national park is home to some of the world’s oldest and most impressive dinosaur fossils. This brand new place with a couple of attractions is good fun. There are real life looking dinosaurs, which you can touch (great!) but can not feed. All the dino’s are moving. There is even a farm where children can ride a dino. It’s new, and it has room for some improvements, like catering more for ...

Reviews Summary

Visitors praise Phu Wiang National Park for its unique paleontological significance, offering a chance to see active dinosaur fossil digs and ancient footprints. The scenic trails and waterfalls are also highlights, making it a great educational and adventurous outing, especially for families. However, some note the challenging road conditions leading to the park and the limited mobile signal.

"There is so much to see and do here. You really need a whole day or more to explore the park the waterfalls our best to see right after the rainy season that is also in the forest is most green. Be careful driving here because the roads get worse and worse the closer you get to the park the signal is also not good inside the park."

"This is the kickoff point for hiking trials to excavation points, seashell fossils site and more. Fossil evacuation site is the closest with only 300 meters from the parking lot. A slight uphill hike and a downhill slope. There’s no paved trail to the site. You’ll pass through a uranium field but don’t be scared since it’s very low level. The path may not be for physically limited individuals.

It’s highly recommended to visit since they have found an estimated 25 meters unidentified dinosaur fossils. The paleontologists are actively working on this site so it’s very rare to find an active digging site in Thailand. They will be excavating for about a year so don’t miss the opportunity to visit. They are very happy to have kids and to try their hands on digging right next to them. Super cool. Great experience for kids.

Warning: The ground is cement like structure so it’s very difficult to dig comparing with other dig sites in the area."
