Loh Paret Beach is celebrated for its stunning sunset views and relaxed atmosphere, with many appreciating the numerous beachfront restaurants and the ability to swim even at low tide. However, recent concerns have been raised about potential water pollution from nearby pipes, prompting caution for swimmers. Despite this, the beach remains a popular spot for its scenic beauty and dining options.

"A beautiful beach where you can get the best sunset view in Koh Yao Yai.

Unfortunately we weren't as lucky, and the clouds kind of hid the sunset, but still it wat very nice and chill just sitting there on the beach and relaxing.

A pro tip - take into consideration that it can get quite windy if the weather isn't at its best, so I recommend checking how windy it should be before going (using any weather app) to avoid getting a bad experience."

"WARNING ⛔️ AVOID THIS BEACH. It’s dangerous.
The beach actually looked really nice at first, until I noticed the two pipes running from the beach straight into the ocean. People are dumping their urine and shit directly through them. It’s so disgusting. You can see the brown water in the video, and I could even smell it when I was there. It’s really sad that this is happening. Swimming here can make you seriously sick."

Saerdna

"A beautiful, calm and expansive beach with many restaurants. A perfect place to enjoy sunset."

The Sunset Experience at Loh Paret Beach

Loh Paret Beach is renowned for its spectacular sunset views, making it a must-visit destination on Koh Yao Yai. However, it's crucial to manage expectations regarding the sunset. While often breathtaking, cloud cover can sometimes obscure the view, as noted by some visitors. Checking the weather forecast, particularly for wind conditions, is highly recommended. Strong winds can detract from the peaceful ambiance. Despite potential weather variations, the beach itself remains a beautiful spot to enjoy the evening, with numerous dining options available to enhance the experience.

For the best chance of a clear sunset, aim to arrive in the late afternoon. This has led some visitors to issue warnings about potential health risks associated with swimming in the area. Travelers are advised to exercise caution and make informed decisions about swimming. If you are particularly sensitive or concerned about water quality, it might be prudent to stick to enjoying the beach's ambiance, the views, and the dining options rather than venturing into the water.

For those who still wish to swim, it's a good idea to observe the water conditions yourself upon arrival. Look for any unusual discoloration or odors. If anything seems amiss, it's best to err on the side of caution. The presence of restaurants and shops means there are still plenty of ways to enjoy Loh Paret Beach without swimming.
