What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors consistently praise Bukit Elephant Sanctuary for its genuine commitment to ethical elephant care and rescue. The opportunity to feed and walk alongside rescued elephants in a natural setting is described as heartwarming and educational. While some note that direct interaction is limited and supervised, the overall experience is highly recommended for its positive impact on animal welfare.
"It was definitely heart warming and incredible experience to meet with these lovely creatures. There are 8-9 different rescued elephants, they all have different characteristics, staff informs you about their journey and how to approach them. We took the walk and feed tour, there were more than enough time to spend with elephants. You just walk through their beautiful garden/forest, through this time elephants walking with their caretakers and they are free to do whatever they want, we were observing them and spending time with them. 4 stations we had during this walk, every station we've met with different elephants minding their own business 😄 At last stop we fed them with rice balls/pineapple/melon mix which we made ourselves. My favourite gentle giant was definetely MALİ, she was the youngest and the most naughty one, but she was always happy flopping her big ears. You should definetely visit and support their mission to rescue and take care for elephants."

"Amazing Park where they really care about the elephants.
The guide told us about the very sad elephants background.
No riding and no bathing.
They have 7 rescued elephants and you can feed them bananas or rice balls (that you make mixing rice, bananas and watermelons).
You can touch 3 of them and only under strict supervision of their caregivers.
We enjoyed to see them roaming freely and relaxed.
There is also a souvenir shop and a refreshing spot where they offer you coffe or Thai tea."

"I can’t recommend this elephant sanctuary enough. Every elephant here has been rescued from a life of cruelty and hard labor, and seeing them living freely and happily is something I’ll never forget.
Our guide, Gift, was incredible. She struck the perfect balance between education and experience. She taught us about the dark reality of elephant tourism and how these gentle giants are often enslaved and abused, while also sharing each elephant’s unique story and personality. It was powerful, emotional, and deeply respectful.
The whole visit was beautifully run and thoughtfully planned, with just the right mix of learning, activity, and interaction. There was no unnecessary waiting, and everything flowed naturally. Each elephant also has a dedicated caretaker who clearly loves and understands them, spending every day ensuring their comfort and happiness.
What makes this place truly special is knowing that every visit directly supports both the care of current rescues and the rescue of more elephants in the future. The elephants live in wide, open spaces where they can roam freely, eat well, and simply be elephants.
If you want a genuine, ethical, and heartwarming elephant experience, support this sanctuary instead of the unethical ones that still chain, beat, and exploit these amazing animals. This place restores your faith in what animal tourism should be."
