What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors appreciate the unique architectural blend and the serene Mun River setting. The opportunity to interact with local students practicing English is a frequently mentioned highlight. Some find the temple itself less grand than its neighbor, but the overall experience is enriched by its cultural interactions and unique features like the 'tiger toilet'.
"Near the Mun River, an amazing white temple built in 1853 and now right next to a school. On the left, after the entrance, a huge tree holding all the past spirits...
There is a small museum to visit too but the main attraction is the temple and its annex."
Oliver K
"This doesn't have that cosy more intimate charm of it's nearby neighbour Wat Luang. It's a more open site and has a school with large pavillion within it's grounds. But I was taken by a Monk who befriended me and took me to the Temple's private museum full of very old Buddha statues and relics, however no photos allowed in the museum.
The principle building is the gleaming white Ubosot surrounded by a low wall supporting the traditional eight boundary stones."
Miles Macdonald
"The main temple hall is built in a unique style mixing European, Chinese and Thai elements. There are a few nice small temples. The best place to rest is at the river. There you can find the most amazing public toilette I have ever seen. The entrance is shaped like the mouth of a tiger. On both sides of the head of the tiger an artificial waterfall was created."
