Reviews Summary
Visitors find the Phuket Ice Arena a unique and refreshing escape from the tropical heat, offering a chance to ice skate or watch hockey and figure skating. While some note that the ice and skate conditions could be improved and the facility might need a revamp, many appreciate the novelty and the cool environment. The staff are generally helpful, and promotional days offer good value.
"This is the perfect place to remind yourself that winter still exists somewhere ❄️
The ice and skates were not in very good condition, and my feet started hurting after just 10 minutes, but it was still enjoyable to be here. There is a wide variety of sizes for the skates, and I was worried they wouldn't have size 45, but they had even more sizes available. Although it was a bit cold inside, I was wearing shorts and it was still comfortable, especially while skating and moving around.
P.S. There was a very tough and aggressive Russian-speaking hockey trainer who was yelling at the kids who trained with him, creating a not very relaxing atmosphere."

"To be honest, I am not even sure if this rink would pass a health and safety test!
This entire area is in need of a serious revamp to make it a worthy and safe place to skate. The seating arena was dangerous, with large areas of seating worn away and caving in. The entire place was damp and incredibly uninviting. Dirty floors, rubbish piled in corners and water constantly dripping h through the ceilings. The seating area in reception was no better, we could t wait to leave. The staff however were helpful in fitting the boots on my daughter, despite the boots being old and worn."

"I been here couple times to be honest my experience was ok nothing bad happened yes I do understand they have hokey players and figure skating so they cut the arena. Also I saw a lot people not happy with staff there? I never seen stuff shout or be disrespectful to anyone. About equipment what are you expecting? If you looking for high class equipment you should bring yourself they are not skate shop they just giving people opportunity to try ice skating. If you looking for pro equipments bring it with you. About price yes can be little bit affordable in my opinion. Especially who live here in Thailand locals and expats."

The Unique Experience of Ice Skating in Phuket
Many visitors find the experience exhilarating, especially the juxtaposition of ice skating with the surrounding tropical climate. It's a popular spot for both locals and tourists looking for a unique activity. While the primary draw is recreational ice skating, the arena also hosts figure skating and hockey, showcasing a different side of sports in Thailand.
Despite the novelty, it's worth noting that the condition of the ice and rental skates can be inconsistent, as mentioned in some reviews. However, for many, the opportunity to skate in such an unusual location outweighs minor imperfections, making it a memorable part of their Phuket trip.
Navigating Skate Rentals and Conditions
To ensure a comfortable and hygienic experience, it's highly recommended to bring your own socks. This is a recurring tip from visitors and is crucial for both comfort and preventing potential issues with worn rental skates. While the arena aims to provide a fun experience, managing expectations regarding the pristine condition of equipment can lead to a more enjoyable visit. For those seeking professional-grade equipment, bringing your own skates might be an option, though this is less common for casual visitors.
Ultimately, the availability of rentals makes ice skating accessible to more people. The staff are generally noted as being helpful in assisting with fitting the skates, which is a positive aspect of the rental service.

While the arena is a unique attraction, some reviews point out that the overall upkeep could be improved. However, the presence of dedicated hockey players and figure skaters indicates a consistent use of the facility. By being aware of potential crowd levels and looking for promotional offers, you can plan a fun and cost-effective outing to this cool oasis in Phuket.
