What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Splashaway Bay is a hit with families, praised for its kid-friendly design, interactive features, and complimentary access. While some slides have height limits, the overall experience is overwhelmingly positive, offering a fun-filled day for younger cruisers.
"My kiddo and his cousins loved playing here.
Toddlers in swim diapers are more than welcome in the play area but there is a height limit to go down the slides. I wasn't allowed to take my two-year-old on my lap down the slide. This isn't a roller coaster.
The large buckets of water might be a bit much for some Littles but older kiddos might love the sudden downpour."

"Splashaway Bay is our kids’ favorite part of CocoCay (although the pirate ship is a close second) - very well designed and everything is well maintained. Right next to the bathrooms and lunch. They allow parents to go down the slides with kids (no shoes allowed of course). Slides have soft sides. If you’ve got toddlers on a Royal cruise this is the place to go - basically the gold standard for splash pads. There is no area for swimming at this specific spot but the oasis lagoon is right up the path and has a shallow area to play in if they want a pool."

"Fun little play area in CocoaCay! The weather was perfect. Great alternative for those who don't want to pay for the water park. The amenities available on the island are fantastic."

Splashaway Bay: A Toddler's Dream
While the main play area is accessible for toddlers in swim diapers, it's important to note that some of the larger slides have height restrictions. Parents are generally not permitted to take toddlers down these slides on their laps, as they are designed for independent riding. However, parents are welcome to accompany their children on many of the slides, and the soft sides of the slides make them more forgiving for young riders. The proximity to restrooms and complimentary lunch spots like Snack Shack and Chill Grill also adds to the convenience for families.
Navigating Splashaway Bay and Beyond
For those seeking more adrenaline-pumping thrills, the adjacent Thrill Waterpark (which requires an additional fee) boasts some of the tallest slides at sea. However, for a day filled with free, family-friendly water fun, Splashaway Bay remains a top choice for many cruisers. Remember to check for height restrictions on slides and consider a waterproof pouch for your phone to capture all the splashy memories.
