What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors are pleasantly surprised by the beauty and charm of the Monastir Medina, often finding it a more relaxed and enjoyable shopping experience than other Tunisian medinas. The friendly vendors and great prices for souvenirs and clothing are frequently highlighted, though some advise caution and firm negotiation.
"Don’t let the rough, unkempt exterior discourage you. When my partner and I arrived, we parked around the corner and were immediately concerned as we got out of the car. We almost considered turning back, but after driving for an hour, we decided to give it a try. To our surprise, the inside of the Medina was beautiful, with a wide variety of charming shops. The shop owners were polite and friendly, inviting us in with the phrase, “Feel free to have a look, there’s no pressure to buy anything.” We felt safe and had a wonderful time chatting with everyone. We even joked about needing to buy an extra suitcase for the return trip, as we picked up so many beautiful items at great prices. I highly recommend this Medina over the one in Sousse—it offers a completely different experience!"

"Large amount of shops and stalls to visit, make sure you haggle- don't except the 1st price, they will hassle you alot so be very firm with them, if travelling single have your wits about you!"
