What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
While La Corbeille de Nefta was once a celebrated oasis, current visitors note a significant impact from drought, with diminished water sources. Despite this, the unique geological formations and resilient palm groves still offer a visually striking experience, though some find the landscape sad and are wary of local touts.
"A few years ago, if you asked me about the Corbeille Nafta, I would have answered with bright eyes: "It is a crevasse in the form of a basket from which 152 springs used to emerge to irrigate the entire palm grove of Nefta." But nowadays, there is no trace of the glory of water there. The place is like a monument to erosion and drought. In short, don't go there. 🥲"

"It’s ok, if you don’t mind driving for over a half hour from the main road through the desert, only to get out and be accosted by people trying to force you onto a camel or a quad for money. The buildings are cool to look at but there are only maybe a dozen of them, and they are just filled with rubble inside. The desert itself is pretty cool, but you don’t get to experience the silence of the dunes due to all the quads and tourists. I was lucky yo snap the pics attached with so few people in frame."

"We walked along Google maps directions to the south and east side and only saw the palm trees down there, no water. Later on someone advised that one need to go to Hotel Mirage and get a better view."
