"The Erk Kala is the oldest which dates from the 6th century among the all ancient Merv cities. So, you skip every other site, but don't do this earliest remains if you love to see the ancient ones.
The fortress area in Erk Kala, is about 20 hectares. The only entrance of the rampart is located in the southern side of the fortress. Simply, the remains of Erk Kala is a huge circular type, wall structure about 600 meters across. It consists of a wall and moat. The ramparts have about 30 to 50m heights."
