What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors find the Conch Bar Caves to be an awesome and interesting experience, particularly enjoying the knowledgeable local guides and the unique subterranean ecosystem. However, some feel the $30 per person cash-only fee is a bit high for the relatively short tour duration.
"The Conch Bar Caves are a fun and interesting experience. You need a guide to walk you through. We went during the week and there was a local guide in the office at the cave entrance. You need to wear good shoes that won’t slip, bug spray and a long sleeve shirt (depending on the time of year). It can be a little cool inside"

"Guided tour is required and we really enjoyed it. The cave system is much bigger than expected. We were the only people there. $30 cash per person"
Erica Ravan
"It was difficult to figure out the hours, and we were unable to make contact with anyone via phone, so we drove over and hoped for the best. There were two employees: one to handle prep and the other to give the tour. The guide gave us each a handheld flashlight and had us follow him into the cave. There are bats, guano, cockroaches (that eat the guano), and spiders (that eat the cockroaches) in the cave. The floor is slick and smooth in places; I’d recommend sturdy footwear. There is no wind in the cave; the air is hot and stale. That said, the cave was awesome!! The bats were very active, and we could see and hear them flitting around and roosting. We saw a crab scuttle across the floor and some shellfish in a still pool. The tour guide was chatty and knowledgeable. Great experience!"
