The affordable entry fee and the charming presence of local cats add to the overall positive experience.
"This is an amazing place! Fires burn from the gas that seeps from some source deep in the earth. We accessed the lower fire by walking from Cirali town. It’s about 30 minutes to the base of the hill, and a reasonably tough 1km walk up the hill to the fires. Of course one could also drive to the parking lot. We went in late afternoon and there were few other people then. Many people went up for a sunset experience but we figured coming down in darkness was a recipe for problems such as falling."

"Methane gas is burning for many years. You have to take a little hike up the hill by rocky road. When is getting darker the view is amazing. Don't forget to take a flashlight on the way down in dark is hard to walk"

"If you’re into hikes, it’s kinda ok. The climb is approximately 1KM and it’s a bit of a steep hike on rocky surfaces.
Once you reach the top, the areas where you can see the fires are scattered. You do get somewhat of a view but it’s more the sitting in nature and the peacefulness that worked for me.
There is an entry fee of try75 which I found bit ridiculous for a basic hike."

Visitors often marvel at the sheer persistence of these fires, a testament to geological processes that have been ongoing for eons.
It's important to note that while fascinating, these are natural gas fires. Visitors should exercise caution and not attempt to tamper with the flames or the surrounding area. The experience is about observing nature's raw power in a safe and respectful manner.
Navigating the Chimaera Hike
For those heading to the upper fires or the peak, the trail becomes significantly steeper and involves more loose rocks, requiring careful footing. It's highly recommended to wear sturdy hiking shoes to prevent slips and injuries. Bringing ample water is crucial, especially during warmer months, as the climb can be strenuous.
While the hike can be demanding, the reward is the unique sight of the eternal flames and, from the upper reaches, spectacular panoramic views. Many visitors find the experience of sitting amidst nature, watching the flames flicker, to be incredibly peaceful and memorable.
