"When Cleopatra came to Tarsus to meet her lover Mark Antony, they were welcomed with a great ceremony in Gözlükule port and it is said that they came to the city from this gate, built during the Byzantine Period.
It’s a historical landmark but there’s not much to see here. The gate is in the middle of a roundabout on the busy streets and free of cost to visit. It would be wonderful if the responsible authority added a signboard detailing its historical significance near the gate.
