Abandoned 2400-Years-Old Mountain Tomb carved out by hand
For anyone wishing to know, these rock tombs are in Fethiye and Dalyan, in Mugla Province, South West corner of Turkey. I prefer the setting of the Dalyan tombs, overlooking the river and almost acting as a gateway from Dalayn to the ancient ruined city of Kaunos. Enjoying some…

I visited Caunos on holiday as a kid and was just in awe of the ruins. It was my first real experience of ancient history. Pretty sure I got heat stroke that day from clambering about in the theatre lol. I could've sworn the site was Carian not Lycian. Doesn't Herodotus say…

What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors consistently praise the scenic beauty of the Dalyan Delta, particularly the boat trips through the reed maze and the impressive Lycian rock tombs. The historical significance of Kaunos ancient city is also a major draw. Some find the walk to Kaunos a bit long in the heat, and occasional overcrowding on popular tours can detract from the experience.
"Every time we visit Dalyan we always hop along the river to visit Caunos/Kaunos to see for ourselves what secrets have been revealed again. If you go prepare for a walk of half an hour (max). It's a nice walk and people along the road sell fresh orange juice/honey/olives and pome granate for a fair price. Enjoy!"
