Reviews Summary

Visitors praise the Forty Martyrs Church for its fascinating history, serene atmosphere, and unique Eastern-style icons, offering a glimpse into the enduring Syriac Orthodox heritage of Mardin. However, some express concern over the preservation of the ancient monument, noting instances of its courtyard being used for recreational activities that could potentially damage the historic walls.

"Entry ticket is cheap but there is not that much to see inside. A person inside will give some basic information and try to respond to questions, but you better know turkish or kurdish.
No photography allowed inside."

leotb2000

"I give 3 stars because the administration doesn't take care at all of the historic monument. There's a football playground in the courtyard of the church and kids play hitting the ancient walls and inscriptions of the church with the ball. This is how Mardin takes care of it's monuments! Shame!"

Iuliana Marchian

"Had the honor to participate in mass with the local suryani orthodox church. Old place seeped in history. Thank you for the locals who are preserving the true culture of Mardin"
