It took about a 2 hour drive from Lara beach, where we met our tour bus, and along with about another 200 people we all then boarded different tour buses and Safari jeeps.
We took a boat tour around the green lake, with its natural, mineral water, so lovely to swim in on a 41 degrees hot August day. Nature at its very finest.
The journey up the mountains was a bit scary tbh, with lots of small gravel trails. Our original tour bus, broke down mid way, the tyre burst and it took forever for the driver to stop. We, about 25 people were stranded for about 40 minutes in the middle of nowhere in the scorching heat. Until a replacement bus came. It was definitely an adventure.
Then we had a water fight with other tour buses up the mountains which was so much fun, you had to bring your own water guns, but the bus was filled with buckets of water, and it was glorious to be drenching wet, lol....but you have to be careful of your valuables, as phones, money etc, will get soaked. Music was blarring, and all buses were tooting their horns. It was great.
The scenes and the day, were fantastic, I would love to visit again."

"Beautiful area, lake is green due to the high content of natural minerals. Great to swim in. (We visited, September - with temperatures in the mid 30c’s) We enjoyed our boat trip. But would have preferred more tranquil music for the scenery - as are not party animals. Surrounding area has survived and was regrowing after forest fires - 2023."

"A beautiful place, but the experience on the boat was utterly ruined by the constant blaring music. We wanted a peaceful nature tour, perhaps with a tour guide. What we got was an hour on a party boat with a DJ playing pumping techno music. We couldn't wait for it to end. Possibly enjoyable for teenagers, but we would not recommend for anyway that wants something peaceful and chilled."
