It is written in the marble inscription of the mosque that the mosque was built by someone named Selaahattin. Evliya Çelebi mentions the name Selaahattin Sultan while listing the saints of Milas on page 210 of his travel book. It is known that the Ara, Ara mosque was also repaired by the notables of Milas. The roof of the narthex is covered with three domes. The minaret of the mosque was given a shape reminiscent of minmer with an architecture specific to the region. It has twenty-seven steps. The arch part of the narthex was filled with walls with business and some parts were covered with metal joinery and its historical texture was completely damaged."
