Reviews Summary

Kybira Ancient City is highly praised for its well-preserved and partially restored structures, including a unique Medusa mosaic and a working ancient fountain. Visitors appreciate the historical significance and the stunning views, often enjoying the site with few other tourists. However, the remote location and lack of on-site amenities like cafes and restrooms are noted drawbacks.

"A must see. The archeological site is fantastic, especially the reconstructed (and working) fountain and the Medusa mosaic. You can easily spend there 2-3 hours. Take suncream, good comfy shoes and enough water. There are no toilets, no cafes, restaursnts. Also, it gets really hot on the hill. I went from Denizli by bus (Göltur) for 250 TL (one way). The journey was 1 hour 45 minutes to Gölhisar. (You can buy the return ticket only at the Gölhisar bus station.) Then 40 minutes walking...uphill."

László Horváth

"Didn't know what to expect of this place, as it was my mission to see as many of Turkey's ancient cities in 10 days. I just looked on the map and hit the road. Well, Kibyra blew any preconceptions I had away! After you pay the entrance fee you drive up the mountain about 2km to a car park. Walking from the car park into the ancient city, you are first hit by the remarkably well preserved remains of the large hippodrome! It's absolutely amazing to wonder around and try to imagine being back in those times. You then make your way further up the hill, and there is a large theatre and odeon. A small section of the baths remained, and a structure called the round fountain with amazingly preserved pottery plumbing! Also, agora Street, which has been partially restored, was very beautiful! So in the end, and again, well worth a visit to another of Turkey's rick cultural relics! 🤩"

"We had the ancient city almost all to ourselves. Not crowded and weather was perfect today. The Odeion, the agora and the fountain was very beautiful. Must see"
