Reviews Summary

The Marmaris Grand Bazaar offers a vast array of goods and a lively shopping atmosphere, but visitors should be prepared for persistent sellers and potential aggressive tactics. While many find unique treasures, caution is advised regarding pricing and payment methods, with cash and firm negotiation being key to a positive experience.

"Didn’t find I was hassled too much although others in my party were hassled much more than I was.
Can probably find anything you need in here. I have been in other bazaar/ souk type places before and I wouldn’t say it’s my favourite one but probably the easiest to walk through out of them all.
Good locations right by the beach, restaurants and taxi ranks."

"Warning for Future Shoppers at Grand Bazaar

During my visit to the Grand Bazaar, I encountered some aggressive sales tactics that I feel I need to warn others about. While many businesses are friendly and respectful, my experience was not ideal.

As I walked through the bazaar, I was repeatedly called into shops, where the sellers engaged in friendly chatter to entice me to make a purchase. I appreciated the pleasant conversation, but there was significant pressure to buy more than I intended. Despite this, I stood firm on my choices.

We eventually agreed on a price of £100, and I made the mistake of paying by card. To my shock, when I returned to my hotel, I noticed I had been charged €200 instead!

My advice: take cash and stick to a firm price. If a seller tries to charge more, don’t hesitate to walk out; they may quickly agree to your price.

While not all traders are like this, please be cautious. As a first-time visitor to Marmaris, this experience will likely deter me from returning. It’s unfortunate that greed can overshadow the experience in Turkey. Stay safe and vigilant!"

"The sellers were very pushy. If you just look at something, they start talking and trying to sell it right away.

Many shops didn’t have prices on the shelves. The price depends on what the seller feels like saying.

We didn’t feel safe or relaxed there. It was not a nice experience."
