What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Metropolis Ancient City is a highly underrated archaeological gem offering a peaceful and immersive historical experience. Visitors praise its free entry, well-preserved structures like the theater and Roman baths, and stunning acropolis views. However, some note the lack of seating and the challenging terrain due to numerous steps.
"Metropolis is a great archelogical site which in my opinion left underrated. It is free of charge and located in Torbalı, İzmir. It took me more than two hours to see all the sites within. It is nearly as big as Ephesus but not as protected. It feels empty between the sites but the Theatre and medieval castle is a sight to see. Be aware that there are a lot of steps to climb and it is not for the faint-hearted. There arent many places for you to sit and take a break as well. All in all i still liked the place and i'd definitely recommend."

"We just visited Metropolis while we were going to Bodrum rather on an unplanned stop on our way…
It does not gave an entrance fee, the site is big and the walk paths and stairs are in greatly built…
The excavations are still ongoing but they do not affect the visits therefore if you are passing by or etc it’s definitely worth a quick stop…
Our experience and visit in the ancient city of Metropolis was truly magical…
I saw that while this lovel city is overshadowed by places like Ephesus, the tranquility, simplicity, and unspoiled historical fabric of Metropolis make it truly special…
As you walk among the olive trees the Metropolis greets you right at the entrance and ascend to the ancient theater, you'll witness how nature and history intertwine…
If you're looking for an ancient city far from the crowds, where you can truly explore with immersion, Metropolis should definitely be on your itinerary…
I hope its beauty is preserved for years to come, and more people have the opportunity to experience this precious heritage…"
