Reviews Summary

Visitors rave about the breathtaking natural beauty of the travertine terraces and the historical significance of Hierapolis. The unique experience of walking barefoot on the warm, mineral-rich waters is a major draw. However, some find the site mismanaged, with concerns about cleanliness and visitor behavior, and the ticket price for foreigners is noted as high.

"The best way to visit Pamukkale is from the South Gate, claiming barefoot on the Terraces. Than put your shoes on and continue to Heliopolis, especially the Theather! If you have time you can see the rest of the ancient city and maybe de Necropolis. Return to the Terraces when it's time for sunset, enjoy it and exit to the South Gate in the same way, on barefoot on the white travertine Terraces. You can do it after dark, while lights are along the white path.
End of September was an excellent choice: agreeable temp, less crowded, great sunlight in the sunset."

Dan Cazacu

"It is a good place to visit and has both nature wonder and history sites. South Gate is on uphill and more easy walk for seniors or people do not walk uphill in hot day. The main gate may have more fun to walk through the pools. Any good place to visit."

Kevin Y

"The travertine site is spectacular but mismanaged. Some people use this unique site as a pig bath. Some of the travertine pools are protected against tourist vandals and are out of reach, those are beautiful.
I would create a boarded walk to allow everyone enjoy the view obstructed.

Another problem is the combined entry to Hierapolis. The ticket price is very high for foreign visitors €30 while Turkish nationals pay 100 Tl.
The 2 sites should be separated as they have little in common and attract different crowds.
Although, I have to admit that goofy tourists that are only interested posing in front of various historical masterpieces, are making the visit a pain even in Hierapolis, Ephesus and everywhere else."
