"This place was such a fun surprise! Although the tannery hasn’t run since 1999, the man running the museum now was a tanner there his whole life. For 100L a person, he’ll give you a personal tour of the facilities and all the processes using Google translate. His family is super sweet, and we got a tasty saffron coffee and frozen Safranbolu ice cream afterwards next to the river. Super nice."

"I really enjoyed learning about the traditional leather tanning process. It was fascinating to see how it used to be done. I highly recommend taking the tour, enjoying a traditional coffee and dessert, and picking up some leather goods while you’re there. The craftsmanship and quality are excellent!"

"Being in this old fashioned leather manufacturing factory make me understand changing the industry such fast in very short time. Today's industry can't be compared with the industry 50 years ago.
This leather manufacturing factory owner family stops the production in 2017 and keeping the all machines as well as last leather products there for us to see all the steps for getting clean leather from raw. Last two generations are still alive and there to explain each step of process and also their remarkable stories. They don't charge for going inside, visiting and listening the story. So please buy few %100 leather products they are selling to support them also sit down on their balcony and try their traditional borek(pastry) and hosmerim(dessert) which you can't find anywhere in Safranbolu.
