What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors consistently praise Topkapi Palace for its immense historical significance, stunning architecture, and breathtaking Bosphorus views. The Harem and Imperial Treasury are standout attractions, offering a deep dive into Ottoman grandeur. However, some find the palace to be very crowded, and the separate ticket for the Harem can be an additional cost.
"We visited this place in June 2025. The palace is located in the same area as Hagia Sophia, Blue Mosque, and Grand Bazaar, so it’s convenient to visit other historical places, if you had time.
Ticket:
We visited in June 2025 and paid 2,400₺ per person for the Topkapi palace ticket. This included access to:
• Topkapi Palace
• Harem Apartments
• Hagia Irene Monument Mueseum
• Topkapi Palace and Harem Apartments
• Clock and Weapon Museum
• Audio Guide Device (ID card needed to get)
The palace is a large complex with different museum areas inside a big garden. There are several sections showing Ottoman-era clothing, jewelry, weapons, kitchenware, diplomatic gifts, and more. The Harem Apartments are a separate section and worth visiting for their architecture and more private royal spaces.
To get the audio guide, you need to provide an ID card at the counter, which they hold until you return the device after your visit. The guide is helpful, especially if you're visiting multiple areas.
Tip:
Go early in the morning. There’s a lot to see, and if you start late, you may not be able to visit everything. Also, there are plenty of good photo spots.
Overall, the ticket price is reasonable for the amount of access it provides, and the visit is well worth it."

"Incredible history and collections. A beautiful and storied palace with some of the most beautiful rooms and pavilions in the world, holy relics and gorgeous views.
Only down markers are the toilets are small and dirty, and there aren’t enough seating areas or refreshments."

"Best place to visit in Istanbul. The entrance fee is TL 2400 and felt like it was on the higher side. The museum is very interesting and great. Walking around is the only way to visit all the attractions.
Sea view is very nice from the palace.
I think the washroom facilities need improvement."
