"The architectural design fits perfectly into the urban landscape and the beginning of the boulevard of the same name. It was created in honor of the 300th anniversary of the Pereyaslav Council and depicts Taras Grigoryevich Shevchenko, a Ukrainian poet and artist.
The monument was commissioned in accordance with the decree of the Council of Ministers of the Ukrainian SSR of December 25, 1953, and unveiled on September 8, 1955. The monument's creators are sculptors Makar Kondratyevich Vronsky and Oleksiy Prokofievich Oleynik, and architect Viktor Oleksiyovych Sharapenko."

"The monument was made in accordance with the resolution of the Council of Ministers of the Ukrainian SSR of December 25, 1953 and was installed on September 8, 1955.
The sculpture was made in Kyiv, and then from there it was delivered to Donetsk.
The monument is a full-length figure of the poet, made of bronze.
The sculpture stands on a round pedestal of red polished granite. On the pedestal there is a frieze depicting the heroes of Taras Shevchenko's works. In the center of the frieze is an image of Shevchenko himself, who reads his poems to M. G. Chernyshevsky and M. O. Dobrolyubov, which, according to the authors, was supposed to mean the interconnectedness and mutual influences of Ukrainian and Russian literature."
