What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors consistently praise the Kharkiv Opera and Ballet Theatre for its majestic architecture and the high quality of its performances, describing them as magical and emotionally resonant. The spacious and beautiful interior contributes to a celebratory atmosphere. However, some reviews mention overcrowding and less-than-ideal customer service at the box office, suggesting areas for improvement in visitor experience.
"The Kharkiv Opera and Ballet Theater (KHATOB) is a real cultural gem of the city. Every time I come here, I feel a sense of celebration. The building is impressive with its architecture - majestic, spacious, with a unique atmosphere that sets the mood for art even before the performance begins.
I would especially like to note the interior: spacious, bright, with taste. Everything - from the lobby to the auditorium - looks very beautiful and well-groomed. It is comfortable to sit, you can see and hear well from any row.
But the most impressive, of course, are the performances. Ballets, operas, concerts - everything is performed at a high level. Professional artists, live music, exquisite costumes and scenery create real magic on stage. Each performance is an emotion that stays with you long after it ends.
It is also worth noting the organization: everything is clear, no queues, friendly staff, a pleasant atmosphere. An ideal place to spend an evening beautifully and inspiredly.
KHATOB is a place you want to return to again and again. I recommend it to everyone who appreciates art, beauty, and the spiritual depth of performances."

"Horrible conditions for a lot of money. People like herring in a barrel. If they could, they would put the spectators on each other's hands. This is unacceptable"

"Review of the opera house in Kharkiv
I visited Kharkiv for the first time and accidentally came across the local opera house. I went up to the box office, where an elderly woman worked. I asked what performances were currently on, and asked her to briefly explain what the performance was about.
Unfortunately, instead of a polite answer, I heard a rude, even boorish reaction. The employee began to be indignant in a raised voice, how it is possible not to know the "great classics".
I got the impression that the audience is not expected here, but rather scared away. It is very unfortunate, because the theater should popularize art, and not humiliate those who are just starting to get acquainted with it.
I recommend that the administration pay attention to the behavior of the box office employees. With such an attitude, you will not have new visitors."
