Visited Dubai’s Old Town! First time taking the metro in Dubai which was pretty cool!! We rode an abra to get across which cost 1 dirham (do NOT let them haggle you for a whole ride lol) They sold everything here from clothes, kitchenware, spices, gold, etc!! #oldtowndubai #dubaioldtown #thingstodoindubai #travel #traveltiktok

Reviews Summary

Visitors consistently praise Old Dubai for its authentic charm and historical significance, offering a refreshing contrast to the city's modern marvels. Guides like Anis are frequently highlighted for their knowledge and engaging tours. While some find the heat challenging, the vibrant souks and the iconic Abra rides are universally loved experiences.

"Firstly pre tour communication with our tour guide, Anis , was excellent. He confirmed the time and location and was spot in meeting as agreed.

Our tour included 2 English only speaking guests (my wife and I) and 4 only French speaking guests so language was always going to be an issue. Anis's command of both fluency in English, French and also has native tounge of Arabic was impressive to say the least. Despite the language differences in the guests the tour was very seamless in explanation where lby Anis would converse in English or French and without skipping a beat would switch to the alternate language.

The tour itself was very educational in showing and explaining the traditions of the culture including current clothing items and how various interactions of how multi generational households were undertaken.

We were also taken to some local markets (Gold Souk) and tried various spices as well seeing shops which specialised in golf jewellery.

Overall I would highly recommend taking the tour with Anis to explore Old Dubai."

"Kick the dust up, feel the heat in the air,
Old Dubai streets got that vintage flair,
Bastakiya walls still whisper the name,
Of traders, dreamers, built that flame.

Wiam the legend, local guide supreme,
Paintin’ history vivid, no need for a screen,
Talkin’ roots, culture, hustle and grind,
Tradition heavy like gold you find.

We took a break — no stress, just ease,
Tea in the glass, dates in the breeze,
Sweets on the table, flavor divine,
Chocolate drip with a cinnamon line.

Cross that creek on the Abra boat,
Old school vibe, yeah, feel that float,
Water’s rhythm, sun in the sky,
Echoes of fishermen driftin’ by.

Then to the souqs — man, that life so loud,
Local merchants, proud in the crowd,
Spices burn sweet, gold chains gleam,
Real Dubai, not a tourist dream.

Wiam knows — this his block, his art,
Every corner got a piece of his heart,
From past to present, rhythm so tight,
Old Dubai glowin’ in that amber light.

Yeah — highly recommended, no doubt,
That’s the kind of tour you can rhyme about."
