What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Birch Bakery is a highly-rated gem in Dubai's Al Quoz, celebrated for its exceptional pastries and delicious sandwiches, with many visitors returning multiple times. While the food quality and friendly service receive consistent praise, the extremely limited seating and parking are noted drawbacks, often leading patrons to opt for takeaway.
"A place so good, I came back three times in one weekend!
The first time I came here was for a quick pick-up so I grabbed the Tomato, Red Pepper & Feta Cheese Danish (24 AED), Cinnamon & Brown Sugar Toffee Bun (26 AED), and Gruyère & Turkey Croissant (23 AED). The star was definitely the danish- the pastry was buttery and flaky, and the tomatoes and red pepper balanced perfectly with the salty feta.
The second time was for lunch. We got the Roast Beef Sando (67 AED), Honey Mustard Turkey & Gruyère Sando (60 AED), Captain’s Tuna Melt (45 AED), and the Smoked Salmon & Capers Sando (65 AED). The beef sando was our favorite because of the combination of the sauce, onions, and beef. The tuna melt was also super good.
The third time was for breakfast. We got Breakfast Focaccia Bun (38 AED) and the Avocado Tartine (30 AED). The sandwich was really tasty, especially the honey mustard on the focaccia. The tartine was a bit disappointing as the picture showed 2 toasts but the order only actually has 1 toast.
Their Iced Americano (22 AED) was a really good classic but their Iced Gahwa Tonic (30 AED) is definitely really worth a try.
The downside is that their seating and parking are extremely limited so takeaway is easier.
Anyway, I look forward to coming back to try more from their menu!"

"Lovely place. Industrial feel in Al quoz. Excellent emirati honey and sea salt croissant. And the harissa scrambled eggs and omlette sandwich were excellent! Went for a second of my flat white!"

"Bought Emirati burnt honey sea salt croissant, cardamom bun, sourdough baguette, Mexican sweet bun . The place is quite small so either delivery or take away is the best choice. Good for baked goods lovers ."

The Birch Bakery Experience: Beyond the Pastries
The menu at Birch Bakery is a testament to their dedication to baking excellence. While they offer a range of items, their pastries and sandwiches are the stars. The Tomato, Red Pepper & Feta Danish, for instance, is lauded for its buttery, flaky texture and balanced flavors. Similarly, the Roast Beef Sando is a favorite for its hearty combination of ingredients. Even their classic drinks, like the Iced Americano, are well-executed, and unique offerings like the Iced Gahwa Tonic provide a local twist.
However, it's crucial to manage expectations regarding the physical space. The limited seating and parking are recurring themes in reviews. This means that while the food is exceptional, the dining experience might lean more towards takeaway or a quick, casual meal rather than a leisurely sit-down. For those who prioritize incredible baked goods and a friendly atmosphere, Birch Bakery is a must-visit, but planning for a takeaway option is often the most practical approach.
A Taste of Dubai: Birch Bakery's Culinary Delights
For those seeking a more substantial meal, Birch Bakery's sandwiches are a significant draw. The Roast Beef Sando is frequently cited as a favorite, with its rich beef, flavorful sauce, and complementary onions creating a memorable bite. The Honey Mustard Turkey & Gruyère Sando and the Captain's Tuna Melt also receive high marks, demonstrating a consistent quality across their savory offerings. These sandwiches are perfect for a satisfying lunch, especially when paired with one of their well-made drinks.
Beyond the food, Birch Bakery also offers a selection of beverages that complement their menu. The Iced Americano is a reliable classic, while the Iced Gahwa Tonic provides a distinctive and refreshing experience, blending traditional Arabic coffee notes with the zest of tonic. While the menu is generally well-received, some patrons have expressed a desire for more vegetarian and vegan options, indicating a potential area for future expansion.
