What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors praise Abbey Gardens for its peaceful atmosphere, historical charm, and beautiful riverside location, making it ideal for relaxation and picnics. The children's play area is a significant draw for families. However, parking is limited and can be a point of frustration for some.
"Very cold when we visited but in the warmer weather, I can only see the gardens really busy. Evidence of an Abbey, ponds and a water way, lots of history and a great play park for children. Parking is small but if you get a spot, it's free for 1 hour but u need to get a ticket with your number plate on it, I think, £2 after that. Walking distance to the town centre. We saw a few people fishing too."

"I absolutely love this place, I often come here when I want a bit of peace and quite and love to be near the river. During the summer you can find a quiet spot to picnic, or have a wander around in beautiful nature and take a seat to rest your legs. There are public toilets and a children's play area. Dog's are welcome here too and it's a lovely open space for them. It's also a nice place to come and enjoy a cuppa and catch up with old friends"

"A beautiful peaceful environment. A well designed flower garden is adjacent to the original Abbey enclosure. Wheelchair accessibility into the area and along the paths, but steps and an embankment are to one side of the flower garden.
A place to relax and to reflect..."
