What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Aberdour Black Sands Beach is praised for its beautiful views of the harbour, Inchcolm Abbey, and Edinburgh, along with its interesting rock formations and potential for finding sea glass. While not truly 'black,' it offers a charming, less crowded alternative to Silver Sands and is a local favourite for dog walks. However, visitors consistently note the significant challenge of limited parking and the absence of facilities like toilets, making it less ideal for long family days out.
"I don’t know why it’s called black sands as it is a lovely small beach with some golden sand, stones and rocks. The vista is wonderful over the harbour and Inchcolm Abbey. Edinburgh and other features are in the distance. Be aware that parking here is very restricted so if visiting it’s best to park somewhere else and walk down. Btw there are plenty of benches to take a rest when you get here, I’m sitting on one right now typing this review!"

"Amazing wee shellstone beach with great swimming and views of the harbour, bridges and Edinburgh. Great wee walk. Parking isn’t good. Residential area. Please do not block in as emergency services need access the the harbour wall at all times."
Esme Oldfield
"Beautiful beach not as popular as Silver Sands but equally spectacular. Favourite place of local people for dog walks. I recommend to walk between both of the beaches as views are one of a kind."
