"Lovely little museum and library. We visited this museum to see the exhibition on Wainwright. It was about £7 to enter, and it includes free returns for a year, which is decent. There's a gift shop when you first enter the museum with lots of books in, and a few other bits. We had to park in the pay and display carpark across the road. There's toilets in the car park, plus a toilet in the museum.
The exhibition on Wainwright is fantastic for anyone interested in walking/ Wainwright/ long distance walking. There's a tv with information/ short programs about Wainwright on a loop. There's lots of information, and the displays look lovely.
There's also a few other exhibitions on a battle of Ambleside and Beatrix Potter at the moment. There were quite a few other people in there when we went, but it wasn't ridiculously busy. There was plenty of space to stand and move around in.
It's well worth a visit. I'll be returning again one day."

"Lovely little museum, with nod to it's founders, some great exhibits regarding Amblesides Roman history. Some stunning fungi water colours by none other than Beatrix Potter. Also while we were there, an excellent display about Alfred Wainwright and his guide books. Worth a visit if local history is your thing !"
