Reviews Summary

Ashton-under-Lyne Cemetery is a peaceful and well-maintained resting place, appreciated for its clean grounds and restful atmosphere. However, some visitors have experienced distress due to inconsiderate groundskeeping practices, such as mud being dumped on graves, and there have been reports of disputes over reserved plots. While the council generally does a good job, specific maintenance actions can negatively impact the visitor experience.

"I never write reviews but this one got me. Arrived today to put some flowers onto a family members grave to find the people working there had dug up another plot, which I completely understand… but I do not understand how they find it acceptable to re arrange peoples graves so they can dump a pile of mud on them leaving a mess when they have a open area of grass where they could’ve placed it that was barely 10 steps away. Would have been easy with the digger they had used. Pure laziness. I couldn’t imagine the feeling of someone who might of gone to visit their loved ones at rest to realise they’ve just had a massive pile of mud dumped on them to the point the grave isn’t visible. They had wedged 2 planks of wood into my family members grave and moved things around which I was furious about so I couldn’t imagine how they would feel. I did say something to the people there, for them to not be bothered. It might be a small thing to some people, but if it was your family member it would have been different for you to see that. Not on👍🏻"

"Muslim Community please don't go banging on peoples doors asking for plots which have been reserved + paid for - BAD MANNERS. If they have been taken, they are taken."
