What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors find Axmouth Harbour a pleasant and charming working harbour, particularly loved for its crabbing opportunities and scenic coastal views. While some note a lack of facilities, the local cafe and The Harbour Inn offer good food options, and the chance to witness fishing activities adds to its authentic appeal.
"Pleasant little harbour, great for crabbing alongside the wall, and catching boat rides out for some deep sea fishing. Obviously tidal, and floods well when weather is torrential. Great fishing and tackle shop/shack where one can purchase kayaks and canoes, or sit and enjoy a cheap coffee or snack. It's Bass season (April) and they're known to sit around the sides of the harbour, towards the mouth. Although not open to the public there is a lobster hatchery here, where the fry are raised and then released back into Lyme Bay for fishing sustainability, and there are fishermen who will tell you more. This is a working harbour so caution is advised, but there's a plethora of things to watch if you have the time."

"Don't know much about the harbour as we visited an night for a bit of crabbing. The crabs where hungry and my son was amazed at how many we caught. Would definitely come back to crab during the day."
Mark Tucker
"Lovely but lacks facilities. For example there are no public lavatories at this end of the beach, unless you are a yacht club member."
