On Google it showed as open, but in reality access was forbidden due to a rock collapse (something we only found out thanks to the kind staff at the nearby bar). It would have been helpful to have this updated online, to avoid a wasted trip. Still, I would recommend visiting if and when it reopens, as the scenery is definitely worth it.. But the viewing platform is open !!"

This historic trail, carved into the rocks along the dramatic coastline of Islandmagee, is a must-do for anyone seeking stunning scenery and a touch of adrenaline.
The tour started with a short shuttle ride down to the path's entrance. Our guide, Davey, was a real character, full of interesting facts about the Gobbins' history (built in 1902) and the local geology. Right from the beginning, the views were incredible. We could see all the way across the Irish Sea to Scotland on a clear day.
The path itself is a real highlight. It winds its way along the cliffs, with sections on suspended bridges, through tunnels, and across stepping stones worn smooth by time. There were even a few climbs up steep metal staircases that got my heart pumping! Davey kept us all safe and entertained with his knowledge and wit throughout the tour.
One of the coolest parts was definitely the bridge across a chasm with crashing waves roaring beneath us. It felt like something out of an adventure movie! We also spotted a family of seals basking on the rocks below, which was a real treat.
The whole walk took about 2.5 hours, and while there were some uneven steps and a fairly steep climb back up to the top at the end, it was manageable with a normal level of fitness. Plus, the stunning scenery and fresh sea air made it all worthwhile.

"Excellent family outing. We were lucky to have good weather. Our guide Simon was very knowledgeable not only about the Gobbins, but of Northern Ireland also. The tour took about 3 hours and we really enjoyed it. I would say that this is not for small younger children. There are some big steps and my 9 year old said it was boring where my 15 year old really enjoyed it. Ample parking g at the visitor centre. Don't drink coffee before the walk. There are no toilets on the path for a 3 hour walk."
