Balmedie Country Park. Made of beach and sand dunes and grasses. The beach is beautiful, and as always, a nice wee cafe for a tea and cake 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 #rickiinscotland #visitscotland #balmedie #beach #aberdeenshire #visitaberdeenshire #nature #walks #balmediecountrypark #sanddunes @thesandbothyatbalmediebeach

I think this is my favorite place in the whole Aberdeenshire 📍Balmedie Country Park You can choose to walk on the beach or slide down the sand dunes 🛷 During autumn’s short days, we would come here to wind down after work nearly every Friday 💛 #aberdeenshire #visitscotland #aberdeen #explorescotland #scotlandtravel #scottishcollective #instascotland #scotlandshots #scotlandgrammer #igscotland #s...

🌬️ Windproof clothing is a must

It can get very windy by the coast. Pack layers and a windbreaker for comfort. ☁️

🐶 Dog-friendly paradise

A great spot for dog walkers, but be mindful of other visitors and wildlife. 🐕

Reviews Summary

Balmedie Country Park is widely praised for its stunning natural beauty, particularly its vast sand dunes and long, golden beach, offering a sense of wildness and space. Visitors enjoy the biodiversity and the opportunities for walking and family fun. However, the condition of the public toilets is a recurring negative point, detracting from an otherwise lovely experience.

"Lovely, nice open and scenic country park with plenty of sand dunes, flowers, and other wildlife. We were really impressed with the biodiversity that this park is home to. There’s a small tuck shop, but it’s only open on weekends, which is fair enough because it’s staffed by volunteers.

The only thing that lets this place down in my mind, is the toilets. They’re really really grim. The cubicles didn’t lock properly; there was running water, but no soap; while there was technically toilet paper, it hadn’t been fed through the dispenser, so it was inaccessible; there was blood on the floor (no sanitary bins provided) ; the toilet button needed to be held down for 30 seconds to flush properly. It’s a real shame because the park itself was lovely!"

Maddy Sutherland

"Fine golden sand. Beautiful dunes. Elegant wind turbines gently turning in the wind. Avert your eyes from the adjacent golf course."

Tim Jackson

"Fantasticly Huge, vast sand dunes all leading to a wonderfully beautiful long sandy beach, add in sunshine and you have a venue well worth a visit"
