What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors consistently praise the Barry Tourist Railway for its welcoming atmosphere, passionate volunteers, and unique historical offerings, particularly the heritage train rides and the World War museum. While some minor issues regarding information clarity have been noted, the overall sentiment is overwhelmingly positive, with many eager to return and support this local gem.
"Cannot recommend highly enough. Very welcoming group of people with a hidden gem tucked away. Its easy to assume its a normal private/volunteer steam railway, but its so much more! There is a tour of the train shed, led by the director himself, who clearly has a wealth of experience and is passionate about what he's doing. There's something for young and old and as it was the Summer the director had his two "apprentices" helping him out, which really added a touch if family to what was already a great excursion.
Would definitely return and would heartily recommend!"

"Worth a visit to support a local society with very historical links to Barry's past. Just wish we were allowed into the shed to see the trains up close, but health and safety....... says no.
Hope they can extend the track in future, although it was wonderful to travel on Iris a diesel train. Brought back memories!! Please support this local railway, there was even some remains of an old steam trains wheels/ undercarriage which I remember climbing on the old rusty steam engines when I was young ."

"Very good service. However, the instructions for the use of Senior Passes are ZERO. It appears that the TFW and the Welsh Assembly is more interested in the Welsh language."
