"We visited as I had bought my husband a flight in a Spitfire for his birthday present. We visited with two friends and from the moment we arrived to the moment we left the experience was absolutely amazing. All of the staff were so friendly, helpful & knowledgeable and went out of their way to make sure everything was great for all of us. Yes, the reception area was busy at times, as the previous days flights had been cancelled due to the weather, and there were more people there than 'normal' but the staff made sure that everyone had whatever they needed. My husband enjoyed his flight to Beachy Head and back so much that he is still smiling a week after the flight. The tour around the Heritage Hanger was fascinating, Simon our guide was incredibly knowledgeable and it was great to talk to the engineers who were working on the restorations. "On Tuesday, 23rd of September I fulfilled a "bucket list" item, which was to fly in a Spitfire. I had wanted to fly in a Spitfire since I was a young boy and the gracious and accommodating staff at Fly-A-Spitfire at the Biggin Hill Airport arranged for that to happen. To say that my 30-minute flight was exhilarating would be a gross understatement! Truthfully, it was the fulfillment of a dream! It was everything that I expected plus so much more. The reality began as we accelerated down the runway to take off and once airborne, looking out at that beautiful elliptical Spitfire wing and the lovely Kent countryside sliding by below. What a sight and sound! It is an experience that I shall cherish for the rest of my life. Finally, I would be remiss if I did not call out those particular members of the Fly-A-Spitfire staff that made this life event possible: Nikki (in the Office); James (I referred to him as the "Crew Chief) and most importantly James Hepnar who was the Pilot-in-Command of our flight.
