"The first lighthouse on this site was built in 1771 and was dameged by a fire in 1865. This lighthouse dates to 1873. It is open for tours on the second Saturday each month from April to August."

"Bidston Lighthouse, situated on Bidston Hill in Wirral, is a historic beacon built in 1873. Known for its unique inland location, it once guided ships entering Liverpool's docks. Although no longer operational, it remains a fascinating Grade-II listed building and a testament to maritime innovation. Visitors can enjoy its history and scenic surroundings."

"I recently embarked on one of the Heritage Open Days tours of Bidston Lighthouse and I couldn't recommend it higher. The tour guide, who I believe owns the place, is deeply knowledged in its history. His knowledge of the people, sciences and circumstances behind the building really leave nothing to be desired. Not once did he sound like he was reading from a script.
The views from the upper floor (that once housed the light itself) are breathtaking, and you'll be able to see almost the entire north of the Wirral with Leasowe Lighthouse in the distance (with the accompanying information on how it was so closely tied to Bidston's own lighthouse!)
A specific group of people I would urge to visit this historic gem would be those that live on the Wirral (especially those near the lighthouse itself), too many take this place for granted and it needs your support :)"
