"Don’t be fooled by “The Great Pretender”… that’s the tree you’ll see first if you’re walking along the river southeast from the bridge. The next massive tree is the Birnam Oak. A local gentleman walking his dog nearby encouraged us to walk around the tree and stand in the hollow base. We failed to knock for permission from the tree witch to enter, but nothing bad befell us subsequently."
