What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors consistently praise Bodenham Arboretum for its beautiful and extensive grounds, diverse tree collection, and tranquil atmosphere. The cafe and restaurant are noted for good food and lovely views, and the dog-friendly policy is a significant plus. However, some visitors with mobility issues find certain paths challenging due to steepness and gravel, suggesting a need for clearer accessibility information.
"This was a visit to recce for a Probus walk and meal. The entrance area to the arboretum and the cafe/restaurant was attractive and well laid out with inside and outside seating (overlooking a lake)
We had a friendly reception from the staff and the manager Sam. We walked around the arboretum which has winding paths and lovely views of the mature trees and herbaceous borders. The Autumn colours hadn't started yet but there was evidence of the change happening. The gardens are extensive with some grassy areas and slopes. It would, however be suitable for most people. We ate back in the cafe ( bacon sandwiches) and the food was very good if a bit expensive. Overall a very good visit."

"An absolutely beautiful place to visit, and offers lunch on the lake too with good food and nice coffee.
However, as a disabled visitor I have to say I was a little disappointed with a few things. On arrival with my elderly parents in mobility scooters we paid and were given maps. That was it. No advice on where to go or not to go. When looking at the map, there's no info on where's accessible or not. So like in most arboretums we've visited, we headed for the entrance and went for it.
The walk was extremely hilly and impossible to get up without us pushing the scooters up. There's gravel in places which isn't great. A lack of signposts to tell you where you are and when route a wheelchair should go isn't great, and most signposts are bare.
If we'd have been told or noticed there is another entry which is flatter and more accessible on pathways, we'd have loved it here.
Food is well priced and in a lovely area. A fair few wasps around though that can't be helped.
Amazing lake full of active carp which kept us entertained.
Please make a better map with accessibility marked on, and ask your ticket person to help advise new visitors on best routes."

"This is definitely well worth a visit. There are so many beautiful trees and shrubs to see, and it's an oasis for wildlife. There's a stunning farm within the grounds, well kept livestock, cattle, sheep, pigs, and donkeys. There are five pools, one is well stocked with carp. And, after walking your legs off, you can sit and enjoy a drink and food by the lake whilst watching the geese and carp in the water. Highly recommended."
