As a family with two curious children, our day at Bodmin Railway was an absolute delight and a truly nostalgic step back in time. It's clear why this heritage railway is such a cherished part of Cornwall's charm, offering a wonderful experience for all ages.
Our adventure began the moment we stepped onto the platform at Bodmin General Station. The authentic steam engines were a magnificent sight, puffing clouds of steam and sounding their whistles – a thrill for both adults and children alike. The journey along the six-and-a-half-mile line was picturesque, winding through beautiful Cornish countryside, including woodlands and valleys.
To keep the little ones engaged, we picked up their free activity colouring sheet and pencils from the shop before our journey, which was a thoughtful touch and kept them entertained with puzzles and an 'Eye Spy' checklist. We also explored the Exhibition Coach and Platform Store, where displays on the railway's history and operations captivated us.
Whether you're a railway enthusiast or simply looking for a unique and engaging family day out, Bodmin Railway delivers. It’s a wonderful way to experience a bygone era and create lasting memories. Highly, highly recommend!"
