Reviews Summary

Bourne Mill is a small but incredibly picturesque National Trust property, lauded for its tranquil mill pond and the charm of its working water wheel. Visitors consistently praise the friendly and knowledgeable volunteers, the surprisingly good refreshments, and the peaceful atmosphere, making it a delightful spot for a short visit and a picnic. However, its small size and limited opening hours are noted drawbacks.

"Small but beautiful, picturesque and, given it's town location, surprisingly tranquil. A beautiful old mill with working water wheel nestled next to duck filled pond. You're never going to stay all day here but a lovely place for a mooch around, a picnic and a spot of duck feeding. Staff were very friendly and helpful too."

"This mill is small (expect to spend an hour or so here) but the volunteers are fabulous welcoming, kind and very knowledgeable they went out of their way to make the visit special. We sat by the pond and enjoyed a cup of tea … by far the best cuppa I have had at a national trust property."

alice mann

"Small but extremely picturesque National Trust Property.

Bourne Mill is a 16th Century building, set alongside a large pond. Its grounds may not be large, but they are charming nonetheless. The outdoor sitting area provides an excellent place to stop for a cup of tea or coffee, next to the pond.

The mill itself provides an excellent glimpse into the local happenings during Elizabethan times, and the working water wheel is a sight worth seeing. On a nice day, this place also provides plenty of photo opportunities."
